Merry Christmas, Bones

We just went to the pet store so Dad could buy Mum her Christmas pressie - a little baby corn snake! He's black and grey and is very cute. He isn't named yet but as we already have a corn snake called Fred, I think we should call him Barney or George. Ultimately it's Mum's decision though and I'm sure she'll think of something cool.

In other news: I'm going out for dinner with Jo and Vicky tonight. We were originally planning on doing a Christmas themed TV marathon (the same as we did last year) but we couldn't find a whole day when we're all available so instead we decided to go for something to eat instead.  Going out for a meal instead of sitting in front of the TV watching our favourite shows seems very grown up and serious but with the three of us there I'm sure we'll end up talking about our shows anyway! I'm quite looking forward to it.

Because we're not doing a marathon I had a very small one myself last night. Okay, so "marathon" might be over-stating it a little but I watched the "Supernatural" episode "A Very Supernatural Christmas" followed by the "Bones" episode "The Santa in the Slush" - which for my money is the best out of the three "Bones" Christmas eps. And not even just for the kiss. The whole thing is so cute and festive. I couldn't help but smile while watching it. I really enjoyed both episodes and might even watch a couple more Christmas themed episodes of other shows sometime before Christmas day.

Walking in a winter wonderland

I went ice-skating today! It was really awesome! Uxbridge (which is not far from me) have an outdoor ice rink set up in front of their town hall and as it's been all awesome and winter-y and it's almost Christmas Jo, Lucy and I thought it would be fun to go.

It was really cool skating around and, even though I hadn't been ice-skating for years, I didn't fall over once! I had a few close calls though. but I didn't fall down! I was very impressed with myself as I was sure I would have gone down at least once.

While we were skating, it was raining, then in turned into slush and then it turned into proper massive awesome snowflakes which settled even though the ground was wet from the rain. I walked back in the snow and it was really nice. So nice, in fact, that once I got home Mum, Mark and I took the dog for a walk so I could experience it again.

There really is nothing better than the sound and feel of walking on fresh snow. You just can't beat it.

I can't even believe we're getting snow like this on the lead up to Christmas. Honestly, it never happens here! It could be the best Christmas ever.

I'm gonna go and wrap up some Christmas presents in a minute! I'm feeling all festive!

Hahaha!

Ha! This whole Joe from X Factor vs Rage Against The Machine thing is so funny.

The funniest part is that they're both on the Sony Record Label (Sony is the parent company of Syco) so surely Sony are the real winners here? Okay so RATM fans said "damn the man! Buy RATM's song. That'll show 'em" but what it really did was give Cowell and X Factor more publicity than they already have and meant that Sony sold thousands more records than they would have anyway.

RATM might have got the Christmas no 1 (not that it really means anything these days anyway) but Sony are the real winners.

It's Joe I feel sorry for because he's the only one who really truly wanted the Christmas number 1 - not that number two is a bad thing anyway.  It's still a success in my opinion.

For the record, I didn't buy either of the singles - I don't think Joe's is that great (Miley sings it better) and I don't think I've even heard the RATM track. I just think it's funny that everyone made such a big deal about it.

ETA:
WTF!? Brittany Murphy has died? God. I only watched "Clueless" the other day. Shit. She's like my age.

Let it snow. Again.

So, how bloody typical is this? You know how much I wanted it to snow, right? Well, I spend yesterday, last night and most of today in Cardiff Bay (more on that later) where there wasn't even one flake and back here in London it apparently snowed quite heavy last night! I'm really miffed about that and I bet now we don't get anymore at all!

I knew it would happen.  I said to Mum other day "I bet it snows here at the weekend and doesn't in Cardiff". Looks like I was right. Figures. We better get some more snow or I'll be really pissed off.

In spite of that I did actually have a good time in Cardiff (even though now I'm half wishing I didn't go so I could have played in the snow instead). We went to see John Barrowman in panto ("oh yes, I did!). He was appearing in Robin Hood which, I think, was the same panto we saw him in last year. While I remembered some of it there were other moments that I didn't remember - I think a lot of new stuff had been added. Like current pop culture references etc. It was a laugh anyway.

Today (and part of yesterday) we looked around Cardiff Bay - did some shopping in a craft fair that was in the Millennium Centre and in the little craft shops near the bay. It was nice.  Then we went to the "Doctor Who" exhibition too.

Oh, and the most exciting moment of the weekend? We drove past a real live DeLorean on the motorway on the way there! I'd never seen one for real before so, of course, had to take a picture. The dude driving it totally saw us and smiled! He knew we were fans of a certain time travel movie. Awesome! The picture is on Dave's camera. I might post it later.

Holy cliffhanger, Batman!

Woah, "Medium" series five ended on an absolutely massive cliffhanger! I can't believe they were gonna cancel it and leave it unresolved like that (unless, of course, they wrote than ending in when they knew it was coming back after all?). Super pleased that CBS rescued it after NBC cancelled it.

This season of "Medium" has flown by! It's been a strong one though.

Also, the announcer dude on Living said it would be back in the new year - I was hoping they might go straight into season six and it looks like I might be kinda right, They've also been advertising the hell out of "Supernatural" season five and, even though the adverts themselves still say "coming soon", the announcer dude just said something like "not long now, there's some great shows coming in January".

Living also advertised luciferiscoming.com but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Maybe it's not live yet?

Why isn't it snowing?!

There is just something about being back in Redlands that makes me not care if I offend anyone. I start school on January 11, on a new campus and I plan on speaking up with my opinion instead of trying to hold back in fear my grade being lowered due to conflicting beliefs with the professor. I'm taking Speech, PoliSci, and Sociology, I will have plenty of opportunity to offend with my beliefs. This semester is looking up already.

I've had a bad couple of months and hopefully a new year means a new start.

You know what, Bones? Sometimes I think your heart muscle is bigger than people give you credit for

Check out what I wore to work today:

I also did my nails to go with the Christmas/Elf theme:

I wore the outfit too work - honestly I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of having to change once I got there. Especially as I wore my duffel coat anyway so most of me was covered. Apart from the tights, that is. I didn't wear the Elf shoes on the way though as they're not outdoor shoes. I wore my cool Converse boots though. I'm glad I got them now considering how cold it's been.

Speaking of cold: guess what? It proper snowed last night. And settled. So I walked to work (and back) on snowy pavements. It was awesome. Super slippery though and I nearly fell over a few times.

It's shame actually that it snowed last night and didn't wait a week. Waking up on Christmas day to snow would be epic!

I'm going to a panto tomorrow and I think I should wear it there too - in fact I think I want to wear it every day til Christmas! Lol!

In other news: last nights "Bones" was really good! I loved the scene when Brennan was undressing Booth - for obvious reasons, of course - but also because of his reaction to it! Ha! It was especially awesome when he started reciting all of the names of Saints to distract himself. Lol! Half of me reckons Brennan really is completely obvious but another part thinks she does it just to see how he's gonna react. I'm sure she was just making excuses so she's have to undress him, you know? Especially when she kept adding that there was some evidence on his shirt, and belt etc. Oh yeah, Booth enjoyed it a little too much.

That scene was all kinds of hot. Loved Cam's reaction too. "It's evidence".

Loads of great Booth/Brennan scenes this week actually (apart from the obvious one) and I loved Brennan telling Random New Relative (aka Margaret) that she finds Booth pleasing to look at. And when she mentioned that Booth is hard to resist. Obviously she meant it a different way but whatever.

I have to say though on the family side of things I actually found Zooey Deschanel kind of annoying - I have a feeling though that maybe that was the point? I liked what Brennan said to Random New Relative at the end though. That was sweet. The whole Christmas dinner thing was cute. Especially as everyone was there. I liked Hodgins' "there's more than one kind of family" but I liked it better when Booth said it in season two.

On the case side of things I totally guessed that the Santa was an innocent guy - right after he said "I just answered the call" I figured it out. I was surprised again that it it took Booth a while to figure it out too. You know, I'm sure I watched a real life crime thing about something like that once.

I did think it was weird though how all the squints turned up for the dudes funeral. Booth and Brennan being there made sense to me because his mother had actually met them before but did she even have a clue who everyone else was?

So now it's established that Booth totally loves her, when is she gonna catch up? Or has she already but is too scared to do anything about it?

I felt really sorry for Cam too when her not daughter (can't remember her name right now) said she didn't want to stay with her at Christmas - it was way harsh, especially as she didn't seem to even get why Cam was upset until she spelt it out for her.

After that I watched "Lie To Me", which was also very good and Loker was totally adorable! I've always liked him (although in the middle of season one I re-assessed how I felt about him for a little while) and last night I think I fell in love with him just a little bit. I'm not usually one of those girls that gets all gooey about a guy because he likes kids or anything but his scenes with the children were perfect. Loved the song too!

Gonna go and look for some icons now!

Untitled

So, I'm dressing up as an elf to the party at work tomorrow again, and even though I have the hat from last year, I ordered a really cool one on eBay weeks ago to use instead and it hasn't come. I thought ordering it on December 2nd would give it plenty of time to get here. Looks like I was wrong. At least I have the one from last year, I suppose, but the one I ordered is much cooler.

In other news: I watched "Paradox" last night - I Sky+ed it on Tuesday 'cause I was out. It was a pretty good episode actually - it was interesting the way the images were about two seperate events. As always they didn't figure it out til it was too late and she then had to decide who's life the save because she couldn't save both.

It's the last one (already) next week - and I have a feeling people they've saved in previous episodes are gonna play a big part in it. Like the someone they saved is gonna end up killing people or something. Which will then play into the whole "maybe they should let events play out" theory one of the cops has had.

While I'm enjoying aspects of the show it's still taking itself way too seriously for me. It needs a bit of a sense of humour, I think.

The Christmas episode of "Bones" is on tonight! Yay!

Request

Does anyone out there feel like making me one of those "All I want for Christmas" icons that says something like "All I want for Christmas is it to snow!". Pretty please?

I'd be eternally grateful.

I've always enjoyed my work. It brings order to the chaos, fills me with civic pride.

Meant to post this earlier but forgot.

Check out who arrived at the door this morning:

A belated birthday pressie from my friend Simon (hi!). Gotta find somewhere to put him now. I might stand him next to Shaun.

Btw, the look on the action figures face actually scares me a little.

Let it snow

Wow, super cold today! Luckily I decided to wear my duffel coat (hat, gloves and scarf) this morning and I'm glad I did. We got some snow but unfortunately by the time I'd finished work the snow had turned into sleety stuff and had practically washed any snow that had settled away. Disappointed. Let's hope for more snow soon.

In other news: my livejournal paid account did it's automatic payment today and I now have room for 5 brand spanking new icons! Woo hoo! I was hoping for some new icon room again this year.

I have a few icons that I saved a while back so I'm gonna go and upload them in a minute.

Oh, and we came second at the quiz night last night - we lost by one point. Booo! I like to say we were the first runner up. It sounds better than losers! Lol!

Also, "Alice" is gonna be released on DVD and blu-ray on March 2nd 2010. In the US anyway. I might have to import it.

2 more days left at work til the Christmas break!

December 12 of 12

Another year of Chad Darnell's 12 of 12 comes to an end, and I almost wasn't able to post my pictures! Dead computer, old card readers, annoying junk. But I went and got things figured out today, and am finally able to get some photos up. Since I don't have my computer, they're all straight out of the camera this month. No fancy tweaking or borders. Oh well. Here's what I did on a rainy Saturday:

9:35am - Kitchen - Helping Dad making cookies. And by "helping" I definitely mean watching him do the work while I eat dough.

Baby, it's cold outside

Dude, it's cold today. I really hope it snows soon - I love snow! They forecast snow at the end of the week and it definitely feels like it could snow - the feeling of snow is in the air.

If it snows at Christmas it will be the best Christmas ever! It'd be like Christmas in all of those cheesy movies!

In otner news: [info]andrewleepotts now as 220 members! The "Alice" fandom seems massive already! I still can't quite believe how many new fans have come from just one appearance. I hope "Alice" comes out to buy on DVD soon. I'd definitely buy it.

Anyway, I've got a quiz tonight - let's hope for some Christmas themed questions! - wish me luck!

10 days til Christmas!

And the week begins again

Hmm, "Fringe" was good yesterday but it's still doing a really good job of reminding me of "The X Files" these days. When it first started it gave off an X Files vibe but this season it's been more obvious. Well, to me anyway. It's a bit worrying actually. I don't want it to end up being X Files-lite. Hopefully it'll become more like "Fringe" again after the Christmas break.

There were some good scenes in last nights episode though - I especially liked the Walter and Peter scene but I really wanted him to call him "Dad" just once. When he thought hew as gonna die would have been the perfect time.

In other news: there's nothing on TV tonight (I don't think there is anwyay, I haven't checked) so I might watch one of those Christmas movies I have Sky+ed.

I've only got one more week at work before we finish for the Christmas break. I can't believe how quick it's gone. I can't believe it's gonna be 2010 in a few weeks. Eeek!
